Aluminum Extrusion & Die Casting

Designed for customized parts processing

Aluminum extrusion is a versatile manufacturing technique where aluminum alloy material is pressed into a metal extrusion die with a consistent cross-sectional shape. Large presses or hydraulic machines push heated aluminum billets through the die, shaping the material as it exits. Aluminum extrusion is ideal for producing metal frames, housings, heat sinks, automotive parts, bicycle frames, and more, suitable for both small- and large-batch production.

In contrast, aluminum die casting uses specialized molds (dies) to produce multiple parts simultaneously, ensuring high efficiency and consistency. Die casting is suitable for metals like aluminum, zinc, copper, and aluminum-magnesium alloys. The process involves melting the metal and injecting it into the molds under high pressure, followed by rapid cooling and solidification to form parts with complex structures and fine details. Post-CNC machining can further enhance precision.

Advantages of Die Casting:
1)⚡ High Precision and Consistency: Produces complex shapes with minimized and controlled tolerances, ideal for mass production of high-quality components.
2)⚡ Fast Production: Simple process with short production cycles, allowing for quick mass manufacturing.
3)⚡ Strength and Weight: High pressure, heating, and cooling result in dense, durable metal structures.

The professional team at IDMockup tailors production processes to meet each client’s specific needs, ensuring that parts not only meet the required specifications but also fulfill quantity and delivery schedule expectations.

Basic Processing Materials

Metals

Aluminum is lightweight yet strong, easy to machine, and corrosion-resistant, making it commonly used in aerospace and automotive industries for lightweight components.

Common material choices:
◆ ADC 6, 12

Zinc has excellent corrosion resistance, good fluidity, and is easy to machine with CNC. It is often alloyed with other metals for processing and casting.

Common material choices:
◆ Zamak 3, 5, 2
◆ Za-8

Aluminum-magnesium alloys have the same strength and hardness as steel but are much lighter, with a weight similar to plastic. They offer excellent thermal conductivity, making them commonly used in heat-dissipating electronic devices and enclosures.

Common material choices:
◆ AZ91D
◆ AM60B

Copper is renowned for its excellent electrical conductivity and thermal properties, making it widely used in electrical components. Bronze (an alloy of copper and tin) offers high corrosion resistance and fatigue strength, commonly used in bearings, bushings, and marine hardware. Brass (an alloy of copper and zinc) is durable with a low friction coefficient, making it ideal for producing high-precision components and tools.

Common material choices:
◆ ZQA19-2, 4, 7, 10
